Madrona has a casual and upbeat feel to it and is very popular because of the views, the proximity to downtown and the Lake and the vibrancy of its commercial district.
Madrona is located on the East side of downtown Seattle and is bounded by Leschi neighborhood (to the South), Lake Washington (to the East), Denny Blaine neighborhood (to the North) and the Central District (to the West). There are mostly single family homes, many with spectacular Lake Washington views. The housing stock is predominantly built before 1940 (think Craftsman, Tudor, Colonial and bungalow).
There is an abundance of access to green space including several small neighborhood parks, recently renovated Madrona play field, Madrona beach with lifeguards and the newly refurbished trail system connecting the neighborhood to the lake. In addition there is the Sally Goldmark Library, Madrona Dance Studio and a Friday Farmers Market throughout the summer months.
There are a range of schools nearby (public, parochial and private) including The Valley School (private, pre-5), Epiphany School (private pre-8), St. Therese Catholic Academy (K-8), The Bush School (private, K-12) and Madrona (public, K-8).
